2023: PDP’ll fail if it doesn’t zone gov ticket to Abia-North – Chieftain

  A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, has said the party will lose the 2023 governorship election if it fails to zone its ticket to Abia-North Senatorial zone. Ogbonnaya also advised Prof Uche Ikonne, alleged to have been anointed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as a successor to jettison his ambition to contest the 2023 election. He revealed that he had advised Ikonne, against his ambition the day he came to consult with him in his residence in Umuahia the state capital. Ogbonnaya, who spoke to a select journalists on Monday, maintained that he would utilise all available resources within his disposal to ensure that no Ngwa man will become the next governor of Abia State come 2023.   Match Report Ghana secured their place at the 2022 World Cup, at the expense of Nigeria, after an away goals victory in Abuja on Tuesday night. Thomas Partey's strike was enough to upset the home fans in Abuja, after a goalless draw in the first leg last week, to end the Black Stars' brief stint away from World Cups. UPDATED: Terrorists bomb Abuja-Kaduna rail track, attack train filled with passengers

 Some terrorists have reportedly bombed the Abuja-Kaduna-bound rail track on Monday. It was learnt that an Abuja-Kaduna-bound filled with passengers derailed after the improvised explosive device planted by the terrorists went off. The terrorists, subsequently, attacked the train with many passengers reportedly injured. It was gathered that some of the 970 passengers on board might have been abducted by the attackers. The PUNCH  gathered that security operatives have been deployed to the scene of the attack. This is coming a few days after the terrorists attacked the Kaduna International Airport where an aircraft was prevented from taking off. A source told our correspondent that “they (terrorists) planted IED. When it went off, it derailed the train.
